Our Mission

Our Why: Leveling the Playing Field

Hockey is more than a sport; it is a classroom for life. It teaches discipline, teamwork, resilience, and the value of hard work. However, the financial barriers—expensive equipment and rising registration costs—often force talented, passionate children to sit on the sidelines. We believe that a child’s family budget should never determine their opportunity to develop these lifelong skills on the ice.

Our What: A Three-Pillar Approach

The Access Hockey Foundation operates on three core pillars designed to eliminate the high cost of entry:

  • Sustainable Equipment Access: We operate a circular economy of hockey gear. By sourcing gently used equipment from our community, we professionally clean, repair, and maintain gear, making it available for seasonal rental. This ensures that quality equipment is always in rotation and never wasted.
  • Removing Financial Hurdles: We bridge the gap between interest and participation. Through our scholarship program, we provide direct financial aid to cover local program registration fees, ensuring that families can focus on their child’s growth rather than their bank statement.
  • Community Stewardship: We are building a culture of “paying it forward.” By involving the families we support in our maintenance and donation drives, we foster a community where every player learns that being part of a team means supporting the next generation of skaters.

Our Vision: A Future Where Every Child Plays

We envision a future where every child who has the desire to play hockey has the gear and the support to do so. Our goal is to transform the sport from an exclusive activity into an accessible, community-wide experience that is open, inclusive, and rewarding for all youth, regardless of their background.
